Welcome to luupostgrads.co.uk, home of the Leeds University Union Postgraduate Society (LUUP), the society for postgraduates at the University of Leeds. We organise a series of events throughout the year designed to help you meet fellow postgraduates, make interesting and fun friends, and have an intellectually stimulating and enjoyable time during your studies here at Leeds. We meet every 1st Thursday of the month for informal drinks, and hold regular events on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The programme for 2009/2010 is still being finalised, but promises to be full of fun, including open mic nights, cinema and theatre trips, football competitions, informal research presentations (given by members of the society), visits to the Henry Moore Institute, Harewood House, the Royal Armouries, and more.
Our events are open to all students at Leeds University. Becoming a member of the society (for a mere £4 a year) entitles you to discounts on all ticketed events, and subsidies on cultural trips. Becoming a member is easy - just follow the simple online registration procedure at the LUU web site (see this article for details).

Sunday 25th April
St George's Day & Anzac Day Celebrations
In honour of St George's day (this Friday) we are going to the St George's day jousts at the Royal Armouries this Sunday, 2pm. Entry is free for members, £4 for non-members. We have to book tickets in advance, so please let us know if you're interested by this Thursday (22nd April). Past this deadline, you might still be able to buy tickets online. Then in the evening we will probably go to the pub Walkabout for Anzac Day - but if the weather is nice, we may have a BBQ and eat Anzac cookies with tea instead. Or both. We can discuss options at the jousts and let people know what's happening then.

LUUP AGM
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday 29th April. We will be electing next year's committee and making plans for next year. All are welcome and encouraged to come and vote. More details will be posted here soon.
